Confident Start To Year’s Trading
Trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday got away to a confident start for the New Year although business was not brisk. Over-all there were 21 rises to five falls. There were no sharp gains by New Zealand issues, but there was a nrm note. Among the rises, leaders and second-rank issues were about in balance.
Advances by Bank of New South Wales, Dalgety and B.H.P. in the overseas section reflected the trend on the Svdney and Melbourne stock exchanges during the last week.
