Spurs Now Soccer Leaders Again

LONDON, January 12. Tottenham Hotspur went back to the top of the English league first division table by beating Blackburn Rovers, 4-1, in the clash of the two leading clubs at Tottenham on Saturday. England’s inside - forward, Jimmy Greaves, got a brilliant hat-trick lor the London club after :31ackbum had taken the lead in the twentysecond minute. Spurs, beaten by their London neighbours. Chelsea, on Wednesday in the F.A. Cup, answered their critics by putting on a top-class display. They have a one-point lead over Liverpool and Blackburn, who both have 34 points. Liverpool moved into second place on goal average. Liverpool, one goal down against Chelsea at half-time, scored twice in the second half to inflict on Chelsea its first defeat in 12 matches. Arsenal, which took a point at Bolton, is in fourth place with 32 points, and Sheffield Wednesday. 4-1 away winner against the bottom club. Ipswich Town, is fifth with 31. In the second division, Leeds United maintained a one-point lead over Sunderland, while Coventry City leads the third division by eight points, with Crystal Palace in second place.
