TREK ON BROKEN LEG
Scout Not Aware Of Injury (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, January 13. It was not until his party’s eipic trek was over that a 15-year-old boy scout, William O’Brian, of Invercargill, realised that the last stage of his walk to safety out of Southern Fiordland’s rugged bush last week had been done on a broken right leg. The lad broke his leg last leaping it and hurt his ankle. Thinking it was only, a minor injury, he continued walking. The next day the party was pinned down by a blizzard in the Green Lake area and reached safety on Thursday after one of the party collapsed from exhaustion.
