AGE PROOF OFFERED

Centenarian At Auckland (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 12. Sixty persons attended a birthday party for Mr S. Naylor, a retired-stationmaster, of Morningside, who was 100 on Saturday. Available for inspection was Mr Traylor’s birth certificate. . Some years ago, bowlers cast doubts on Mr Naylor’s age. The doubts were prompted by the , fact that, apart from deafness, Mr Naylor is alert and active. He walks the half-mile to the .bowling club. So Mr Naylor sent home to Leeds for a copy of his birth certificate. Mr Naylor came to New Zealand with his parents in the sailing ship Zealandia when he was 15. For some years he worked in his father’s blacksmith’s shop at Pahiatua. Later he joined the railways and in 33 years’ service was successively Stationmaster at New Lynn, Morningside and Puriri. He lived in retirement at Thames until his wife’s death six years ago.

Mr Naylor has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 55 years.
