Waikato In Command

(N.Z. Preu Association) HAMILTON, December 27. Waikato held command at the end of the first day of a two-day cricket match against Hawke's Bay at Hamilton. After declaring its first innings at 299 for eight, Waikato took five Hawke's Bay wickets for 38. M. C. Langdon batted superbly for 74 not out for Waikato, and B. H. Pairaudeau was in fluent mood for 59.

Scores: Waikato 299 for eiglit declared (Langdon 74 not out, Pairaudeau 59, M. Coxhead 40. B Sutcliffe 37. W. P. Bradburn 35; P. O'Shaughnessy two for 38, F. E. Fisher two for 40'. iHawke’s Bay 38 for five (S. Kohlasse two for six).
