Mid-Canterbury-owned or trained horses had a great innings at the Ashburton Trotting Club's summer meeting on Thursday when they gained seven wins as well as a host of placings. Glenurqhuart and Paddy’s Night, winners of the divis- ' ions of the Wakanui HandiI cap. are both owned and ! trained in the Methven district where the Ashburton Cup winner. Avante, is owned.

Lochgair, which is owned in Chertsey and trained at Templeton, won the New Zealand Champion Stakes, while the other feature race on the programme, the Winslow Handicap, went to the Ashburton-owned and trained Robert Medoro. Dominica, winner of the Midsummer Handicap. is owned and trained at Methven, while Flying Over, winner of the Netherby Handicap. is owned and trained at Ashburton. Other Mid - Canterburyowned or trained horses to reach a place included Jeanna, Lightming Scott. Wayleego, Bourbon Lad, Dulcie Mae, Dieppe. Dora Doone. Cairnbrae. Rekots. Trudy Helen. Sheridan, Front Line and Kyle View.
