Jim’s Count Wins At Rotorua

ROTORUA, Dec. 27.

The nine-year-old Jim’s Count, which had won last on the course in May, took the Rotorua Christmas Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Christmas meeting today. He wore down the pacemaker, Damian’s Pride, to win by a length, with Clymon a close third, followed by Calm Comet, Llanelly, Glen Count and the favourite On Purpose, in close order.

Good Day Peter, winner all the way of the Visitors’ Handicap, the second leg, completed a notable treble for the Costello family, of Rotorua. Mrs W. J. Costello won with Fair Tiger and Tamarangi. Good Day Peter is raced by Mr Costello. The meeting was held in sunny, warm weather. The track was fast. The Jim’s Co'int-Good Day Peter double paid £l9 8s 6d for £l. The totalisator on-course handled £64,374, including £11,489 on doubles, compared with £68,767 last year. Results.—
