Bank Of New Zealand
Sir, —The Bank of New Zealand is to be congratulated on the steps taken to improve the old bank building. In my opinion Christchurch is very much behind Wellington and Auckland in progress in new public buildings. We read of 17 storeys and more being erected in these cities: and it is about time a similar improvement was made in this city with its many old and out-of-date types of building*. The new Government building in the Square is a good start to modernise our city, and this building is really a credit to the town. I am well over 70 and have seen many modern changes in the other cities, and am trusting to see similar ones in thia city.—Yours, etc..
