New Zealand’s first national food fair would be held in Christchurch next year, to coincide with the New Zealand Industries Fair, between

August 21 and September 5, said Mr G. Kerr, an adviser to the New Zealand primary

produce boards, when visiting Christchurch yesterday. Co-operation would be sought, he said, between all manufacturers of New Zea-

land foods, wines, the primary producer boards, restaurants of high quality, hotel

groups, and tourist agencies, j This would ensure the success! of the fair in its purpose of 1 demonstrating the range of production and the preparation of New Zealand foods. ‘ A principal aim of the fair was to foster the interest of overseas buyers, said Mr Kerr. He would visit Australia in April and invite buyers for various large organisations to attend. The food fair, he said, would have commercial promotions and non-commercial exhibitions. Professional competitions, not open to housewives, would be restricted to people whose job was the preparation of food. The largest cash award would be about 100 guineas.
