Captain D. M. Todd, the Wellington harbourmaster, will retire on June 30 next Captain R. E. Suckling deputy-harbourmaster and second pilot, has been appointed to succeed him - - (PA)
Detective Senior - Sergeant S. B. McEwen, who has been in charge of the Greymouth CJ.B. for the last two years, will begin duties at the Christchurch Central Police Station next week. DetectiveSergeant J. D. Crozier, of Christchurch, has been transferred to Greymouth to replace Mr McEwen. Mr S. J. R. Chat ten. who recently succeeded Mr H. M. Collie as manager of the AMP Society in New Zealand, will visit Christchurch on December 17 and 18; Mr Chatten was earlier general sales manager for the whole society after being manager <•' the South Australia branch.
The Rev J. Evans will leave shortly to take up his post as vicar of the Chatham Islands. Mr Evans has served as vicar of Ross, Lyttelton. | Malvern, Ashburton, St Mary’s (Timaru), Kaiapoi. | Merivale. and has been rural dean of Mid-Canterbury. Since early last year he has been assisting in the parish of Linwood - Aranui.
