St. Margaret’s College

The character of the girls and that indefinable tone or atmosphere which gave St. Margaret’s College its individuality and quality, must be in a large measure attributed to the influence of the staff, said the principal of the school. Miss J. P. Croeher, at its annual prize-giving last evening. The staff had assisted devotedly in guiding the school’s destiny, many of them over a very long period. Miss Crosher said the board of St. Margaret’s had this year reached a tremendously important decision with regard to the future development of the school by avowing their intention of introducing secondary school subjects at the Form I level within the next few years. It would make this the stage at which the main intake into the senior school would take place. The Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt Rev. A. K. Warren) gave the prize-giving address and presented the prizes as follows: — Form Prizes Form HIM: Virginia Hall 1, June Nicholls 2. Progress prizes: Della Clark. Helen Cook. Divinity: June Nicholls.
