W ELLINGTON, December 12. Wellington's domestic electricity charges will rise in March by one-tenth of a penny a unit, or 11.7 per cent. No change will be made in the fixed charge of 2s 6d a month on domestic accounts, but that on commercial accounts will be increased from 2s 6d to 5s a month.

The increases are expected to yield an additional £86.000 » year from domestic users and an additional £16,000 a year from commercial users The increases are estimated to cost the average domestic user an additional 10.3 d a week But the rates will still be among the lowest in New Zealand.

Recommending adoption of the increased charges at last nights meeting of the Wellington City Council, the chairman of the council's trading committee, Cr. S. H. J. Duff, said the additional revenue was needed to help meet the high annual cost of maintaining expenditure on capital works amounting to £1.150.000 in the next three years
