Fire Destroys Sawmill
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. Dec. 12.
A mill which had been idle for two years and which belonged to the New Forest Sawmilling Company at Ngahere, was destroyed by fire on Wednesday afternoon. The Ngahere Volunteer Fire Brigade unit was quickly on the scene, but the blaze was found beyond control. The origin of the fire is unknown and the company’s loss had not been estimated. The company manager (Mr J. F. Tibbles) said, however, that the cost of a new mill would be between £BOOO and £9OOO.
