FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression north-east of East Cape is moving slowly southwards. A. ridge of high pressure covers the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Light to moderate easterly winds, cloudy to overcast, with periods of drizzle this morning and again tonight; moderate temperatures. Buller and Westland.—-Light to moderate variable winds; overcast, with some drizzle patches, but becoming partly cloudy later; mild temperatures. Marlborough.—South-easterly winds, strong about the Sounds; elsewhere moderate; cloudy, with some light rain at times, mainly about the coast; temperatures moderate. Nelson.—Fresh south-easterlies in the north, but elsewhere light to moderate variable winds; fine and warm. Outlook.—All districts: little change. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
