Threats To De Gaulle
(N.Z. Press Association) WASHINGTON, Nov. 27. State Department security officers said today “a number of threats” against President de Gaulle, of France, were received while he was in Washington for the funeral of President Kennedy. | Extra precautions were taken to guard against any attempt on his life. Officers said some of the threats were “of the vague crank type,” but others were “very definite” and could be followed by investigators. “Those that could be fol-lowed-up we followed-up very closely with other government agencies,” the security men said. They did not disclose the result of their inquiries. In Dallas, Texas, the Mayor, Mr Earle Cabell, was reported to have said he reI ceived warnings that “two people were to be assassini ated in Washington—a foreign dignitary and my- | self.”
