New Zealand's second largest dairy company was created today with the ratification of amalgamation proposals between the Whangarei, Maungatapere and Mauri gaturoto Dairy Companies Meetings of the three companies were held in Whangarei today and the constitution of the new company and the terms of amalgamation agreement, as settled between the three directorates, were approved by the shareholders The new company, to be known as the Mid-Northland Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., will start with butter manufacturing units in the three areas, and with ■ new casein plant at Maungaturoto. It will have 1265 suppliers.

The combined output of the three companies last season exceeded 12,450 tons, second only to the huge New Zealand Dairy Company.
