The Colony’s Telecommunication network is undergoing a major development programme, comprising micro-wave and V.H.F. multi-channel bearer system, extensive carrier telephony installations and modem switching scheme. Applicants should possess sound experience in one or more ot the following:—V.H.F. links, Automatic Telephony, Carrier frequency telephony, teleprinters. They should hold recognised technical qualifications such as city and Guilds intermediate, Ist class Certificate of Technology, N.Z, C.E., or equivalent. SALARY: Experience and qualifications will decide the successful candidate’s point ot entry in the consolidated scale £(F)1120 to £(F)1750. (£N.Z.IOO equals £F111). (Including Inducement allowance, payable to expatriates.) The appointments will be to the grade of Telecommunications Inspector, and will be on contract for a period of three years in the first instance. A gratuity equal to 15 per cent of the salary earned will be paid on completion of the contract. Tourist Class alf passages for the officer, his wife and family to and from the Colony will be provided and overseas leave at the rate of 3 ! 2 days per calendar month of resident service will be granted at the end of the contract. Local leave at the rate of 10 days per annum may also be granted Government quarters, with heavy furniture, will be provided for married officers at an economic rental. If Government quarters are not available, the officer may rent a house privately and will receive rent subsidy. An education allowance is payable to officers designated as expatriates.
