LONDON, Nov. 19.: There is a shortage of fleas) in Britain an<j it is holding up medical research, according to the “Medical News.” i People not used to being bitten by fleas sometimes pro- ' duce a distressingly severe 1 reaction when they are attacked, and a company which ; specialises in the production )of de-sensitising allergens j has received many requests : from doctors practising in ■ less salubrious surroundings : for help in dealing with the : irritation which arises when ■ they take the occasional flea ) home with them. I The trouble is that before , discovering whether fleas I contain allergen a fair I quantity of insects have to
be obtained, and they are not as common as they used; to be. The firm in question has) now asked a flea catching ex-) pert to help them.
