TRAINING SQUAD

Davidson Not Available A squad of eight players has been announced by the Canterbury tennis selectors (Messrs J .Anderson, chairman. G. Lane, and B .J. Shirlaw) to train for a Wilding shield challenge against Auckland on March 14 and 13. Theplayers are: P. s. Alexander. R. McCutcheon, W. Thom, B. Baxter. B. J. Aldridge. L. W. Watkins. B. J. Shirlaw and A. Brookes. G. A. Davidson, who was ranked first equal in the province with his University clubmate, Alexander at the end of last season, will not be available to travel to Auckland. Asked by the management committee to reconsider their opinion that a challenge should not be made for the Nunneley casket, the selectors have reiterated that opinion because insufficient players are available for the trip.
