Affiliate Easily Wins Wanganui Handicap

PALM. NORTH, Nov. 19. The Masterton-trained gelding Affiliate scored a runaway win in the Wanganui Handicap, main event and first leg of the double on the first night of the Wanganui Trotting Club’s meeting at the Manawatu Raceway tonight. He beat the favourite Nigger Minstrel by four lengths, with Lileas a length and a half away third. Light Polka, from Trentham, won the second leg, the Victory Handicap. The double, Affiliate and Light Polka, paid £24 18s for £l. The weather was fine and the track fast. The totalisator on-course handled £26.279 10s. compared with £34,802 10s last year, when the meeting was on a Saturday.
