RESULTS OF CROQUET
A friendly match between the Canterbury Croquet Association, and the South Canterbury Association, held in Christchurch, resulted in a win for Canterbury. Results (with Canterbury names first) were:— A Grade Doubles:-—Mesdames L. Buchanan and V. Whiteombe lost to Mesdames H. Dempsey and J. Martin. 10-26: Mesdames C Pomeroy’ and W. Archbold beat Mesdames W. Sal ton and W. Walker. 26-20: Mesdames A MeInnes and M. Hill beat Mesdames A. Boyd and L. Restall, 22-17. Singles:—Mrs Buchanan beat Mrs Dempsey, 26-12: Mrs Wnitcombe lost to Mrs Martin, 3-26; Mrs Pomeroy beat Mrs Salton, 26-11; Mrs Archbold lost to Mrs Walker, 12-26; Mrs Mclnnes beat Mrs Boyd, 24-16; Mrs Hill lost to Mrs Restall. 21-26. Canterbury 5, South Canterbury 4. Intermediate Grade Doubles:—A. Bruning and Mrs S. Peddie beat Mesaames C. Bishop and W Hannah, 26-16; Mesdames A. McCree and M. O’Sullivan beat Mesdames R. Withen and L. Lord. 26-14: Mesdames L. Peters and C. Holland beat Mesdames M. Porter and A. White, 26-11. Singles:—A. Bruning beat Mrs Bishop, 26-22; Mrs Peddie lost to Mrs Hannah, 17-21; Mrs McCree beat Mrs Withell. 26-6; Mrs O’Sullivan lost to Mrs Lord. 3-9; Mrs Holland beat Mrs White, 26-15; Mrs Peters lost to M. Porter. 19-24. Canterbury 6, South Canterbury 3. B Grade Doubles:—Mrs J. Woolley and J. McNab beat Mesdames A. Riley and J. Henderson, 26-21; Mrs H. Wright and L. Harvey lost to Mesdames C. Oliver and S. Cameron. 16-17; Mesdames I. Hazelhurst and E. Galbraith drew with T. McGregor and Miss E. Harries, 12-12. Singles:—Mrs Woolley lost to Mrs Riley, 10-15; McNab beat Mrs Henderson. 19-9; Mrs Wright beat Mrs Oliver. 26-4; Harvey beat Mrs Cameron, 26-12; Mrs Hazelhurst lost to McGregor, 8-26; Mrs Galbraith drew with Miss Harries. 13-13. Canterbury 5. South Canterbury 4. C Grade Doubles:—Mesdames M. Porter and W. Johnstone lost to Mesdames L. D. Taylor and H. Goodman, 23-26; Mesdames C. Fechney and L. Mcllroy beat Mesdames F. Berryman and M Denovan, 22-16; Mesdames J. Cunningham and D. Dalton beat Mesdames M. Johns and J. Smellie, 16-14. Singles:—Mrs Porter beat Mrs Taylor. 26-22; Mrs Johnstone lost to Mrs Goodman. 10-26; Mrs Fechney beat Mrs Berryman. 19-4; Mrs Mcllroy lost to Mrs Denovan, 8-9; Mrs Cunningham beat Mrs Johns, 21-16; Mrs Dalton lost to Mrs Smellie, 6-17.
