TREASON TRIAL

New Judge On Bench PRETORIA, Nov. 13. The South African treason trial reopened in Pretoria yesterday with a new judge and a new indictment. Ten men, including Nelson Mandela, alleged leader of the banned African National Congress, are accused of planning violent revolution, guerrilla warfare and a military invasion of South Africa. The original indictments were quashed two weeks ago by Mr Justice Quartus de Wet on the ground that the prosecution had given the accused insufficient details of the charges. The accused found a new Judge—Mr Justice Oscar Galgot—presiding today. He announced ho would begin the hearing of the charges on November 23, saying it was in toe interests of toe accused for toe trial to start as soon as possible.
