NEW PRELATE ‘A COVE'

(N.Z. Preu Association) SYDNEY, November 10. The new Roman Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne. Dr. Justin Sifnonds, said on arrival in Sydney yesterday: Tm just an ordinary cove.” The 72-year-old archbishop was on the last leg of his journey from Rome to attend the funeral of Archbishop Mannix, who died on Thursday. He said he would not be the controversial figure his predecessor had been, and indicated he would not take an active part in politics. Dr. Simonds said Archbishop Mannix had asked in his will that there should be no funeral procession before his burial. He had also wished to be taken by the shortest route to his burial place.
