OLDEST CHURCH MEMBER
Honour Today For Mrs S. M. Smart When Hie new Seventh Day Adventist church at Ham is opened and consecrated today, the oldest member and only surviving charter member will be presented with a bouquet. She is Mrs S. M. Smart, who celebrated her ninety-fourth birthday this week. For many years Mrs Smart has devoted all tier spare time to crocheting woollen quilts and other articles for the church's missions. She has been an active member of its Dorcas society, a health and welfare service run by the women of the church. Mrs Smart joined the church in 1895. The third convert in New Zealand to the faith, she became a charter member of the Barbadoes street church In 1897 and has belonged to the one church for 68 years.
