Hay’s, Ltd. Buys Two Three Sydenham propertie', 10 Elgin street. 20 Elgin street, and 130 King otreet. were sold for £7460 at public auction yesterday on account of the estate of Ruby May Neteoc. The auctioneer was Mr N. H. McCrostie. The Elgin street properties were bought by Hay’s Ltd., as an extension of its south Christchurch holdings. Lot 1, 10 Elgin street, was sold for £2550. It comprised a roughcast cottage of four £2°™. and a kitchenette. There te also a detached room on the section at 223 perches. It is let at a weekly rental of £1 15s. The initial bid was £9OO There were eight bids of £lOO, and 17 of £5O. The Government valuation te £l3OO. Lot 2, 20 Elgin otreet, la let tf.g* a week. It waa aoid for £2950. Buildings on the section of one rood include a bungalow with two livingrooms. three bedrooms, kitchenette and laundry. Outbuildings include a garage and sheds. The opening bid waa £2500 There were three bids of £lOO, one of £5O, and four of £25. The Government valuation is £2850. lot 3, 130 King street, which te let at £2 5s a week, brought £1950. It comprises a roughcast bungalow and a garage on a section of 26 4 perches. Die house has a lounge, two bedrooms, ounporch, kitchen and bathroom. The Government valuation la £2400.
Leader Banned— The African. nationalist leader, Mr Joshua Nkoma, was banned yesterday from attending public meetings in Southern Rhodesia for three months Salisbury, November 8. Car for Antarctic— a small Italian car, which te to be taken to the Antarctic for testing, te on display in the showroom of a city motor flrm. It will also be on display at the United States headquarters at Christchurch airport.
