RECOVERED VEHICLES

Work Of Skin* Divers (N .Z. Press Association) , INVERCARGILL, Nov. 3. Eight skin divers from the Southland Skin-Diving Club made quick work of recovering four stolen motor-cycles and scooters from the bottom of the Oreti river, at two different spots, near Invercargill today. Five divers worked from a 15ft boat moored to the Dunns road bridge from about 10.45 a.m. and within an hour recovered a motor scooter minus its engine and a motor-cycle intact.

About three-quarters of an hour was spent finding the machines, which were in about Bft of water. Operations were hampered by poor visibility—which was never more than 18 inches. At the same time, another team worked in 20 feet of water at the Bay road bridge. After two hours they had salvaged a scooter minus its engine and another scooter intact.
