LODER CUP AWARD
Wellington Artist
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Oct. 31
The Loder Cup for 1963 has been awarded to Miss Nancy M. Adams, of Wellington. The cup is awarded annually to the person who, in the words inscribed on it, “encourages the protection and cultivation of the incomparable flora of the Dominion." It was given to New Zealand by a former president of the Royal Horticultural Society, Mr Gerald Loder, who later became Lord Wakehurst.
Miss Adams had become widely known for her work as a botanical artist, and in this capacity has rendered much assistance for several years to authors in need of drawings of plants and vegetables. She illustrated “New Zealand Trees and Shrubs” published recently by the Government Printer. The Director-General of Forests (Mr A. L. Poole) and Miss Adams were the authors.
