GEORGIA BLAST
6 Killed In Drug Store IN.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MARIETTA (Georgia), November 1. An explosion in a corner drug store during Hallowe’en celebrations in Marietta last night left six persons known dead and more than two dozen injured. Glass and rubble were flung into the town square, where scores of children and adults were dancing in witches’ garb and masks. The cause of the explosion —which occurred during the evening shopping hour—was not known. It blew out the shop window, killing and injuring passers-by and customers.
Les Blair, a press photographer, said he was sitting in a booth in the drug store when a ball of flame came up out of the floor. “The whole building shook and there were screams of .terror and anguish,” he said. Mr Robert H. Poole, a chemist, said he was making up a prescription when the blast occurred.
“The store was crowded, but everything was normal,” he said. “Then the front end of the store blew out.”
