Black Treasure Masterton Fancy

Black Treasure, a place-getter in two starts at Oamaru recently, should go close to winning the Masterton Cup at Hutt Park Raceway tomorrow night Black Treasure was beaten narrowly by Miriam Hall on the first day at Oamaru, * and on Monday, he finished strongly for third behind Gay Robin at the end. of a solid two miles. • The opposition will not be so strong at the Masterton meeting and he should go close to winning.

Spring Garrison, a . placegetter on the first day. at Oamaru. received a shocking run on Monday and dropped right cut in the straight. He is much better than that effort suggested and could be the hardest for Black Treasure to beat.

Johnny Smith might be the best prospect among the North Island horses in the race, although there will be support for Adioscot and Country Song. The consistent Bonnie Widow should gain a welldeserved win in the second leg, the Stewards’ Handicap. She has been placed in seven of her eight starts this season and' looks a grand prospect in this comparatively weak field.

Quinharold was runner-up to a smart paces’ in Spencer at Te Awamutu on October 12 at his most recent start. If •he' races as well again, he should take beating. Bazax, Chief’s Fancy, Sonic and Marino Maid are others expected to show to advantage.

Fair weather is forecast and the track will be fast. Fields, with form, for the doubles races are:—
