FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold front is moving slowly northeastwards over northern parts of the North Island. A south-westerly airstream flows over the South Island. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Mainly moderate southerlies; isolated brief showers along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and cool. Outlook: cloudy and cool. Marlborough.—Moderate southerlies predominating near the coast; partly cloudy, with cool to moderate temperatures. Outlook: cloudy
