New Vicars Appointed
Hie first vicar to be 1 appointed to two newly-con-jstituted parochial districts j are included among new appointments tn the Diocese of Christchurch. he Rev M. D. S Cocks, who, since early this year ha. been assisient to the vica-i of Opawa-St. Martins, has been appointed vicar of the newly-formed parochial district of St. Anne's, St. Martins; and the Rev. I. D L. Cooper, who has served as vicar of Otaio and Blue Cliffs, i South Canterbury, since 1959. has been appointed vicar of the new parochial district of Marchweil, Timaru The Rev E H. Newman, who since 1958 has been the rural dean of Malvern, Banks Peninsula and Ellesmere and vicar of Leeston, will succeed Mr Cooper as vicar <<t Otaio and Blue Cliffs. Mr Newman served curacies m the Diocese of Nelson, was vicar of Woodend from 1946 to 1952. and from 1952 to 1958 was view of Hinds. Two other appointments have also been announced Th- Rev. H. 3. Paterson has been appointed vicar of Kumara and assistant curaie in the parish of Hokitika. Mr Paterson has been assistant curate tn Highfield since ais ordination in 1960. Mr Paterson will succeed the Rev H V. Harrison, who has been appointed vicar of Ross and South Westland Ordained in 1959. Mr Hamson served curacies in the parishes of St. Peter’s, Riccarton. and Ashburton, before being appointed vicar of Kumara and assistant in Hokitika early this year.
