Drought Prospect In Bay Of Plenty
(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, Oct. 22.
With only .37in of rain in the last month, farmers in the Bay of Plenty—recovering from one of the most severe bloat outbreaks tor years—are facing the prospects of a serious drought. Mr R. W. Moody, farm advisory officer at Rotorua, said today that the effect of the present drought on next winter’s feed could be disastrous.
An entomopatholoigist from Germany has been seconded to the South Pacific Commission to study the biological control of the rhinoceros bettie.—Reuter.
