Show Mirrors Prosperity Of North Canterbury
Agricultural and pastoral shows mirror the prosperity of their districts and the show at Rangiora has firmly established itself as the yardstick of farming for a large sector of North Canterbury.
Such is its quality that it has maintained a consistently high number of entries and excellent gates in recent years. The show gives fanners a chance to compare and evaluate the quality of their stock and produce and its competi-
tion encourages them to raise their standards. They can assess and compare the latest farm machinery displayed by manufacturers. Although the show is a focal point for the farming industry, it has . something of interest for everyone, t Housewives are able to inspect a great variety of home appliances and’ labour-saving L equipment in the special dis- ■ plays.
s One of the most interesting displays at the show is almost ■ certain to be the exhibits ■ arranged by branches of the • Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. > For the children the show ! will offer sweets, ice-creams, ; arid soft drinks. Many exhibitors will have informa- - tive pamphlets for them to • collect. Rivalling, these for [ popularity will be the merry- - go-roupds, miniature' trains, and side-shows.
