Victorrans are to be protected against high pressure methods of door-to-door salesmen.
Householders will be given a thcee-day “cooling off” period in which to call off agreements to buy articles on hire purchase or terms under legislation approved today by the Parliamentary Liberal and Country Party A bill will go before Parliament soon, and appears certain to be passed
There have been complaints to the Government of people being induced to enter into c mtrects when they did not understand the heavy commitments they had agreed to Under the proposed law a buyer’s rights to terminate a contract would have to be fully explained in a written pu-chase agreement Attached tv this would be a brief, ’ear-off notice which could be sent to the sellinz company within three days to call off the contract
