LANCASTER PARK
Stand Building Permit
A building permit was authorised by the City Council on Monday evening for part of the new No. 3 stand at Lancaster Park. On the recommendation of the town planning committee the council agreed that a building permit be issued for the erection of the part of the stand applied for. subject to requirements referred to by the Chief Fire Officer (Mr L. R. Osmond). When the Victory Park | Board was issued with a per-1 mit, it would be advised that l without having received an application for a public building licence the council could not determine satisfactorily whether the building would qualify. The council granted permission tor the moving forward of two houses in Wilsons road; but left to the Town and Country Planning Appeal Board a decision on the height of the new stand. The board applied tor a specified departure from the district planning scheme to permit the stand to be erected to a height of 59 feet and to be sited so that the northern side yard should be five feet from the boundary The town planning commit- ' tee sa id the code of ord inI ances provided that the maximum height should be 45 feet and the side yard 14 feet. Although the board indicated that the application could be dealt with by the council under powers delegated by the appeal board, the committee felt that as more than one property was affected the matter should be dealt with by the board.
