U.S. Buys 28 per Cent Of N.Z. Wool
Thf United States was the biggest buyer of New Zealand wool in the first three months of the current woolselling season. According to the Department of Statistics, 84,304 bales were entered for export to the United States in the three months ended September this year, compared with 60,939 bales in the same period last year. The later figure represents 28.4 per cent of the total exports to date, compared with 24.3 in the first three months of last season. It exceeds exports to the European Economic Community (81,533 bales) or to the United Kingdom (73391 bales).
Shipments to all destinations in September this year
totalled 81.993 bales, compared with 96-132 bales in September last year. Of last month’s exports, 25,654 bales (compared with 25.929 bales in September last year) were destined for the United States. Details of exports for the last three months, and for the same three month* of 1962, are as follows:
