Plans For £41.5m State Highway Expenditure
(From Our Own Rtporttr) WELLINGTON, October 21. The maintenance and development of main roads throughout New Zealand until April 1,1966, are involved in a three-year for State highways involving the expenditure
This programme, which was prepared by officers of the National Roads Board, was not discussed at last week's meeting of the board, but copies were passed to members for their consideration. It will be discussed at the board’s next meeting in November.
The officers will be seeking the board’s confirmation of the 1963-84 programme and its approval in principle of those of the two following years. The amount will be spread over New Zealand’s 18 road-
Ing districts. The yearly totals are:— 1963- .... £13,948,000 1964- .... £13,433,000 1965- .... £14,061,000 South Island districts will fare as follows, the three years being given in order, then the total: No. 11 (Nelson-Blenheim), £458,000, £506,000, £553,000; £1.519,000. No. 12 (Westland), £770.000, £783,000, £743,000; £2,266,000. No. 13 (North Canterbury), £347,000, £333,000, £328,000; £I,OOBXXX). No. 14 (Mid-Canterbury), £460,000, £504,000; £480,000; £1,444,000. No. 15 (South Canterbury), £333,000, £296,000, £301,000; £919,000.
