Burglar Steals £l7

A burglar entered a flat in Manchester street on Monday evening and stole £l7. The occupants of the flat were watching a television programme. A door had been left unlocked. The head of the Christchurch C. 1.8 (Chief Inspector W. H. A. Sharp) commented yesterday that though this type of theft had not yet become common in Christchurch. burglars in overseas countries where television sets were in almost every household frequently took advantage of householders’ preoccupation. "Persons watching television would be wise to take steps to protect their valuables." he said.
