Labour M.P. Injured

(N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) HEREFORD, Oct. 22.

The condition of Mr Michael Foot, a member of Parliament, and a leader of the Labour Party left-wing, was “very serious indeed," a hospital spokesman said early today. Mr Foot and his wife were admitted to hospital in Hereford last night after a car Mrs Foot was driving was involved in a crash with a lorry. Mr Foot was suffering from chest injuries, including multiple rib fractures, and fractured knees. His wife received injuries to her pelvis and hand.

Mr Foot spent some two hours in the operating theatre. His wife's condition was described as satisfactory.
