RUNAWAY CAR

Child Injured In Auckland (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Ort. 20. A child suffered concussion and cuts when a runaway car careered 120 yards down Sonia avenue, Remuera, on Saturday and struck a power pole. The boy, Tibor Banfy, aged four, son of Mr T. Banfy, of Sarefieild street. Herne Bay, who was alone in the car, was admitted to Auckland Hospital suffering from head and arm injuries. Power and telephone services in the lower part of Sonia avenue were disrupted. The car mounted the kerb, smashed a -wire fence, bounced off across the road, mounted the footpath, and broke the pole which was carrying a transformer. The car narrowly missed a group of children playing on the footpath. Tibor was found on the floor of the car lying under the steering wheel.
