October 19 Lector Piggott drew level with the champion, Scobie Breasley. in the race for this year’s jockeys’ championship when he rode two winners at Newmarket this afternoon Both have ridden 167 winners After he finished behind Doug Smith in the first race—a twohorse race—Piggott's objection was upheld and m the next he brought 14-4 favourite Nos Rovaiiste to victory. Breasley went through the afternoon without a win. although he had two seconds and one third. The tact race was a three-horse one. with both Piggott and Breasley riding in it—unsuccessfully.
