LYTTELTON REMINDS HIM OF GREECE
Lyttelton at first sight reminded him of Volos, Greece, said the master of the 10-year-uld Swedish freighter, Kungaland (5086 tons) which arrived from the Mexican Gulf on Friday with 10,000 tons of bulk sulphur. Captain Hans Ljungman, of Gothemberg, who commands the vessel is not the only shipmaster who has seen a similarity between Lyttelton and another ports recently. One said Lyttelton reminded him of Anchorage, Alaska. The Kungaland, which has accommodation for eight passengers, was previously en-
• gaged on the Far East service of Bostroms of Sweden who have 100 ships, including the noted Ewedish-American line group. She has a crew of 36, predominantly Scandinavian. , After discharging 3800 tons 1 of sulphur at Lyttelton, the Kungaland will complete discharge at Dunedin and Bluff, after which she will go to , Nauru to load phosphates for ' the United Kingdom. Captain Ljungman, a keen . gardener, collects pot plants. t He said he would be intert ested in obtaining some samples of New Zealand s plants for his considerable ■ collection before his vessel ■ sailed.
