95 Not Out For St. Albans II A magnificent 96 not out was ■cored by the St. Albans II batsman, Anne Colville, in the Canterbury women’s senior cricket competition on Saturday. She attacked strongly, and rarely had any difficulty with the Mai Moa bowling. In Saturday’s games. St. Albans n drew with Mai Moa. Technical beat Western on the first innings, and St. Albans I beat Beckenham on the first innings. St. .Albani II v. Mai Moa Playing at St. James's Park, St. Albans II batted first, declaring at 185 for four wickets. Miss Colville dominated the innings, but K. Wilkinson showed impressive form in scoring a hard-hit 57. M. Lawson took most wickets for Mai Moa, with two for 23. A. Giles bowled accurately but without success. She made the batsmen play nearly every ball. In reply, Mai Moa scored 104 for six wickets. B. Harris scored a somewhat lucky 38. A Giles (17). and a newcomer, S. Moore (17). were the only others to reach double figures. G. Watson bowled impressively in taking three for 8 for St. Albans. Technical V. Western Last season’s winner and run-ner-up met in a very even match. Technical, batting first, was all out for 124, the consistent P. Moore scoring 50 not out. O. Williams an aggressive 32. and T. King 17. P. Adair kept an Immaculate length, but was unable to take a wicket, successful bowlers being E. Rouse (three for 36) and the young D. Dawson (six for 40). The fielding of both sides was good, J, Witte keeping wickets extremely well for Western. Western was dismissed for 102, a sterling 62 being scored by the experienced S. Cowles. J. Rogers (13) and E. Rouse (14) batted well. J. Goddard was Technicals best bowler with four for 15. P. Moore took two for 17. and O. Williams two for 7. St. Albans I v. Beckenham
At Linwood Park, on a very slow outfield and spongy wicket. St. Albans I found it hard to score. J. Stead batted quite well for 15. and P. Blackler was top scorer with 19. St. Albans was dismissed for 62. J. Lowe was a tower of strength with her bowling, taking six for 24. L. Hawes bowled with credit for three for 25. Beckenham was soon in trouble, J. Dickinson with a beautiful ball bowling J. Lowe for four. It was not until the young A. Watkins came to the crease that Beckenham looked likely to get anywhere near the St. Albans total. She played a fine innings of 21. top score of the match.
The St. Albans bowling was shared bv J. Dickinson (three for 9). P. Blackler (three for 17). and R. Kinley (three for 14).
