Historic Houses Described
A brief historical survey of house types in and around Christchurch was given by Mr J. Hendry, an architect, to members of the Association of Friends of the Canterbury Museum. He illustrated his talk with slides of cob houses in and around Rangiora, some still in use and some In ruins, and some simpler types of houses in Christchurch. Among these was the Deens cottage in Deans Bush. Mr Hendry also showed slides and spoke of larger houses, such as Rhodes homestead in Purau, Middleton Grange, Brooklands, Rangiora, and the nevi museum at Akaroa.
