THEFT OF CYTHERA

October 14 The man who stole the yacht Cythera, last May and left its owner stranded on Lord Howe Island, would have been hanged as a pirate in an earlier age. the Chief Justice, Mr Justice Herron, ■aid in the Court of Criminal Appeals today. The Court refused the man —Derrick Brewin. aged 31, a labourer, of Sydney—extension of time tor appeal and dismissed his appeal against the sentence of four years' gaol. "I can’t understand how you got off with so ittle for taking a yacht worth £17.000. It is leas than you deserve Left to me. it would have been considerably more,” Mr Justice Herron said.
