Record Award

The award of £25.952 5s 4d damages made in the Supreme Court in Christchurch to a young woman injured in a motor collision in 1961 was the biggest ever made in Christchurch for personal injury. It was also one of the biggest in New Zealand legal history, according to a Christchurch solicitor. The woman, now aged 22, had claimed £30,000 general and £3452 5s 4d special damages from the estate of the driver of a car which had collided with the car in which she was a passenger.
