Guidance Counsellor For Riccarton H.S.
Riccarton High School would appoint Ms first guidance counsellor next year, the principal (Mr A. J. Galnsford) told a meeting of the school’s board of governors last evening. The counsellor would replace one of the two careers advisory officers, who spent at feast 14 periods in am advisory capacity and the rest of the week teaching, he said. The counsellor would be a liason between the school and the parents and in a better position to sort out problems which rnitfrt arise for pupils, said Mr Gtonsford. The appointee would spend two days counselling, two days teaching and one day as a careers adviser.
The school had 14 applicant* accepted Tor training college next year About IQ pupils intended to take up port-primary teaching. he sard. One pupii. J. Keteey. taxi been accepted to attend an adventure camp at Lake Sumner from November 23 to 30. Another. A. Davies, had been accepted for an Outward Bound course next June.
A senior geography master and careers adviser, Mr G. R. Falloon, had resigned after being five years wrtti the school, said Mr Gainrtord. The board accepted the reaignaition with regret.
