New Season’s Schedule

Opening prices for the new export lamb killing season in Canterbury were announced yesterday. Rates are from 2d to 3W per lb higher than at the opening of the 1962-63 season.

The new season will begin at North Canterbury and MidCanterbury works next week. New Zealand lamb has lately been, selling on a rising market in Britain, and a buoyant market for wool is also a factor in the setting of the new price, although at this stage of the season lambs are carrying only a light weight of wool. Under the opening schedule a prime 321 b lamb will be worth 50s Bd. compared with 44s a year ago. j Compared with last year’s i opening schedule, lambs over : 361 b are 3d to 3 lid dearer, ' while prime lighter-weights | are only 2d to 2lid up.
