No Dividend Transfer

(Partiamentarv Reporter) WELLINGTON, Oct. 16. It would be difficult to justify a transfer of the Jovemment's 8 per cent dividend from its shares in New Zealand Woolpacks and Textiles, Ltd., to the New Zealand Wool Board, the Minister of Finance (Mr Lake) told Mr 3. S. Gordon (Govt., dutha) in the House of Representatives today. He said the amount due to the Government—£B423 was quite modest. It represented the normal dividend paid by the company. The company had 1600 small, private shareholders and a £150.000 Government investment. Dividend distributions were 8 per cent Last year and 7 per cent in the previous four years.
