Unlucky Herewini
[From T. P. McLEAN, Sports Editor of the “New Zealand Herald"]
HONG KONG, Oct. 16. Least fortunate of the 1963 All Blacks at present is the mercurial little Maori five-eighths, M. A. Herewini. Two days before be left New Zealand Herewini attended the funeral of his sister. In Sydney he was plagued with toothache. Today, in Hong Kong, he discovered the Joss of travellers cheques worth £2OO.
Herewini played at full-back in yesterday’s evening’s trial run but it was his opposite, D. B. Clarke, who disappoint-' ed. The one disturbing sight of the trial was Clarke’s inability to kick some long range shots. But these are early days, and the full-back’s left-footed drop kick from 45 yards to close the trial run was one of Clarke’s very best.
